I rescued my best friend, Shiraz, four years ago from the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota.
I had no intention of leaving with a new best friend but when we met, I knew I had to make him part of my family. There were treats all over his cage, which showed that my always-hungry little guy was not in the mood to eat. After seeing Shiraz, I asked to take him for a walk. To this day, I have never seen him jump so high. He was so excited to get out of that cage. After the walk, I went into a glass room with him. He kept one paw up like he still does when he's nervous. He lacked excitement and curiosity. Thinking back, he wasn't himself. He was depressed and defeated.
Today, he is one of the most outgoing, people-loving beings I know. Shiraz has helped me on my journey through life. He has helped my dad find happiness in his battle with Alzheimer's and helped my mom overcome her fear of dogs. Shiraz has been a gift that was brought to me in the most unexpected way. He is my best friend and has changed my life in ways I could have never imagined.
One thing I noticed early on as a dog-dad was the poor quality of food and treats available to dogs. I would look at a label and see ingredients I'd never heard of, meat from overseas or a bunch of fillers. This inspired me to create Our Dogs' Journey so I could know exactly is going into my best friend's body and because I don't want others to worry about what their dogs are consuming.
With Our Dogs Journey, you get a simple recipe, made and packaged in America with no preservatives. Shiraz is the inspiration behind every product we provide and we will never sell or endorse a product that we wouldn't give to him.
